Director and Filmmaker

T.S.Nagabharana is a socially committed Indian Film Director. He is the recipient of national,  state and other prestigious awards for 11 of his 26 Kannada Movies in the last 26 years.  His movies have been selected for international film festivals and Indian panorama. Grahana, Banker Margayya, Chinnari Mutha, Mysora Mallige and Nagamandala are a few among other globally appreciated and acknowledged films.   A stage director and an artist since college days, Bharana  (as know in short among his close associates) has directed and acted in many stage plays and TV serials. After a brief initial tutelage under B.V.Karanth and Girish Karnad, he began his film career in 1978-1979, directed his debut film Grahana and received best screenplay and best director awards.  The film received the Manheim Critics Pool Award having been selected for International Film Festival held at Manheim, Germany.  Rural villages that retain fossils of rich cultural heritage of India and her folklore are the hub of his unique movie making wherein concern to children and women is underscored.  Recently, he has received the prestigious Puttanna Kanagal Award for his directorial excellence at a glittering function at Mandya in Karnataka State.
